University of Chester

Student Support and Guidance Services provides free help to all current and potential University of Chester students. The centre deals with enquiries regarding finance, counselling and welfare, or any student concerns. The International Student Welfare Officer issues a ‘Welcome Guide’ to all international students on arrival, containing information about life on the Chester or Warrington campuses, and offering guidance on local services and facilities. The International Welfare Officer also organises events during the induction week (at the beginning of each academic year) to help new students to feel at home in their new surroundings.

Learning Support Services exists to supplement the guidance offered by academic departments in their taught modules. It also offers individual support to students who need assistance with English Language and study skills.

Chester Students' Union is situated on each of the Warrington and Chester campuses. CSU is the focal point for student representation, information, advice, entertainment and services.

The Student Information Centre offers a confidential listening service for students and referral to other agencies when necessary, as well as general information and advice about the University of Chester, and leaflets and information on a variety of issues, from health and safety to housing and finance.

Chester Students' Union organises entertainment events for students on and off campus. It runs many clubs and societies, both sporting and non-sporting, and finances them through the provision of annual grants. This enables them to subsidise such things as travel and the purchase of team wear and equipment. The University of Chester competes successfully at a regional and national level in the British Universities and Colleges Sport league, and various other leagues. Cultural activities are also well catered for by a range of societies.
